Not long ago, at the 19th annual Best of Success conference in Dallas, Roofing Contractor
continued its long-standing tradition of naming the residential and
commercial roofing Contractors of the Year. It was an honor to present
the awards to the leadership teams of Greenwood Industries and Bone Dry
Roofing from a stage shared by so many impressive roofing contractors
during the two-day event.

As is the case every year, RC
editors had our work cut out for us during the selection process; the
field of contractors to vet was diverse, dynamic, and each
well-deserving of recognition. It’s one of the most important – and
challenging — tasks we assume in our positions.

Selecting the
best of you — those roofing contractors that truly stand out for
implementing best practices, taking care of their employees and
excelling at quality work — is not easy. Nor should it be. There are so
many roofers out there creatively finding ways to succeed, committed to
giving back to the communities they’re in and striving to leave the
overall industry in a better place.

Our goal as a publication is
to recognize not only the commercial and residential roofing contractors
that level up in performance and customer care but also strive to
highlight innovators pushing the industry forward in a positive
direction. And not just for profitability — as important as that is —
but for advancing the roofing profession’s future.

Indianapolis-based Bone Dry and Greenwood Industries, headquartered in Worcester, Mass., fit the bill.

Both are exceptional roofers focused on customer care and high-quality installations.

Greenwood’s
award-winning work dates back more than a decade, and its crewmembers’
fingerprints are on the rooftops of some of the most significant
structures in the Northeast — historical and otherwise.

Bone Dry
has recently been recognized by residents in its markets and by roofing
material manufacturers for its consistency, safety and overall customer
satisfaction. The number of Google reviews recently swelled past 3,000
and counting, and it boasts an average of 4.8 stars across all Midwest
offices.

Selecting the best of you – the roofing contractors that truly stand out for implementing best practices, taking care of their employees and excelling at quality work is not easy. Nor should it be. There are so many roofers out there creatively finding their way to success, committed to giving back to the communities they’re in and striving to leave the overall industry in a better place.

Both are innovative and bold when it comes to growth.

Bone
Dry is in the midst of a pre-pandemic strategic plan that expanded
operations to 20 locations in seven states through acquisitions and
greenfields. It also created Bone Dry Solar in 2022 and is already
seeing success in the Indianapolis solar roofing market.

Greenwood
also expanded its reach into surrounding states like New York, but its
growth strategy goes beyond traditional roofing. With no other roofers
in the area offering waterproofing services and masonry restoration
together, Greenwood set the template for innovation by purchasing a
century-old company with name recognition and a skilled workforce.

Both are big on mentorship and growing from within

Bone
Dry Roofing established its Bone Dry University in 2021 to develop its
workforce as well as increase recruitment and retention. To date,
employees completed more than 18,000 e-learning modules and spent more
than 8,700 hours on live training.

As RC readers learned
from 2023 Young Gun Joe Jolicoeur, Greenwood’s leadership team has
created a culture of success by incorporating good ideas from younger
employees into its systems. Mentoring and developing talent from within
its ranks continues to be a priority — and winning formula.

With that said, it’s a new year, and the search for the next contractors to highlight begins this month as RC
opens the online submission period for both the Contractors of the Year
and the 2024 Top 100 List. Find out more on how to get involved by
